What’s the Best Gin for this Spritzer for Halloween?
When purchasing gin, chose a dry, unflavored gin. You don’t have to choose the most expensive gin, but I don’t recommend using the cheapest.

What Kind of Glass Should You Serve a Halloween Gin Spritz in?
The most important thing is that you choose a glass that is large enough. You’ll need at least 2 inches of space at the top of your glass after assembling it before you add the dry ice.
High ball glasses, balloon glasses, or large wine glasses will work great.
Adding Dry Ice to Halloween Cocktails
Dry ice in cocktails creates a fun, spooky effect that is perfect for Halloween!
To create a fun Halloween effect on your spritzer, you can add a small piece of dry ice (about ½” cube) to each glass before serving.
The result is a bubbling, smoking cocktail that looks like something out of a witches cauldron! Please check out the safety tips below.
Dry Ice Cocktail Safety
Adding dry ice is a great way to create special effects in your Halloween gin spritz cocktail. However, it does come with some safety considerations.
If you’ve never worked with dry ice before, always consult a safety data sheet before handling.
- Do not store dry ice in a sealed container.
- Store it in a well ventilated area.
- Never consume dry ice.
- Handle dry ice with caution.
- Use temperature proof gloves and utensils– never handle dry ice with your bare hands.
- Allow the drink to stop smoking before consuming.
Halloween Gin Cocktail Garnish Ideas
I don’t like to add too many garnishes to this Spooky Gin Spritz because there is enough going on already with the bright color and the effects from the dry ice.
However, some garnish ideas to try include:
- Fresh raspberries on a cocktail pick
- Halloween cocktail picks or skewers
- Fake eyeballs
- Twist of lemon peel
Tips for the Best Gin Spritz for Halloween
Want to know how to make the best raspberry gin spritz? Hint: a good cocktail starts with quality ingredients.
Here are my tips for making this delicious cocktail:
- Fresh lemon juice is better than bottled — However, bottled lime juice will work in a pinch. The flavor of the cocktail just won’t be as fresh.
- Buy quality alcohol — Your gin spritz will only taste as good as the quality of ingredients, so avoid buying the cheapest gin if you can help it.
- Leave about 2 inches of room at the top of your glass — Dry ice will make the sparkling water bubble quite a bit – you don’t want it to spill over.
How to Make a Big Batch Gin Spritz
Muddle the raspberries and then combine the remaining ingredients (except the dry ice) in a serving pitcher.
TIP: add the sparkling water/club soda at the last possible minute before serving, otherwise you risk loosing the carbonation which gives this gin cocktail its spritz!
Before serving individual cocktails, pour single servings in individual glasses. Then, add the dry ice directly to the glass.
To make 12 servings (approximately 1/2 cup each):
- 3 cups Raspberries
- 1 1/2 cups Water
- 3 cups Gin
- 9 fluid ounces Fresh Lemon Juice
- 6 cups Sparkling Water
Can This Halloween Cocktail Recipe Be Made Non-Alcoholic?
Alcohol-free spirits are great as an alternative if you’re sober curious or don’t consume alcoholic drinks.
I’ve never made Pomegranate Cosmopolitan with alcohol-free spirits so I can’t speak to the exact taste, but here are some highly rated non-alcoholic spirits you can try for yourself:
- Alcohol-free Gin: Try using Ritual Zero Proof Gin, Monday Zero Alcohol Gin, or Lyre’s Dry London Non-Alcoholic Spirit.
- Or, simply replace gin with club soda, tonic water, or a sparkling juice.
Safety tip: Depending on the brand you use, some alcohol-removed spirits may still contain trace amounts of alcohol. Check before using if you’re pregnant, serving the mocktails to kids, etc.
