Spaghetti Seasoning Mix
Homemade Spaghetti Seasoning is made with a blend of dried herbs, plus spices like garlic powder, red pepper flakes, and paprika. It’s perfect for seasoning spaghetti sauce as well as pizza sauce, garlic bread, soups, and more!

This easy recipe is a homemade version of the packets of spaghetti sauce seasoning sold at the grocery store.
I prefer making my own seasoning blends from scratch whenever possible so I can customize the ingredients and control the amount of salt added.

- Drain off the excess grease.
- Add the DIY spaghetti seasoning mix.

Tips for Making This Recipe
- Adjust the herbs and spices — You’re welcome to omit or substitute any of the spices used in this seasoning blend to use up what you have on hand or suit your personal tastes.
- Make it more or less spicy — ½ teaspoon of red pepper flakes adds just enough heat to give your spaghetti sauce more flavor, while 1 teaspoon makes it slightly spicy.
- Adjust the salt — If you’re trying to watch your salt intake, you can always omit the salt from this seasoning mix altogether. Then, salt the spaghetti sauce to taste before serving.
- Make sure your herbs and spices are still good — Open each jar and give the herbs and spices a sniff; if they have a very faint smell or don’t smell at all, that means they’re very old and need to be replaced.

Making the Spaghetti Seasoning
Using the Spaghetti Seasoning
Katie's Tip: I recommend browning the beef (or other ground meat, such as ground turkey) and draining excess grease off of the meat before adding the seasoning mixture. Then, add your preferred sauce to the meat and simmer for 20 - 30 minutes before serving. However, if you don’t intend to drain excess grease off then you can add the seasoning mixture to the raw meat while browning the meat.
Notes
*not required, but recommended otherwise you have large sharp pieces of dried rosemary.
1 store bought packet = 38 grams = 3 tablespoons (approx.)
