Making this Mango Cherry Smoothie
I love smoothies for afternoon snacks and am always looking for new recipes to try. They are such fun snacks! I just made this Mango Cherry Smoothie the other day using a new Ocean Spray Cran-Cherry juice. It was so tasty I just had to share!
I know I’ve talked about it before, but I absolutely LOVE Food for My Family’s suggestion for storing smoothies in your freezer. Each week I make 2 new smoothie flavors in a large quantity and save the extra in my favorite freezer storage containers.
When I need a quick snack or the kids need a sweet treat, we grab a couple of the containers of smoothies from the freezer. Just let them thaw on the counter for a little bit, or defrost in the microwave for 30-60 seconds and eat with a spoon. That definitely makes food more fun.
I was asked to share Ocean Spray®’s new line of Cherry Juice Drinks with my family. Obviously, we were a fan of the Cran-Cherry Juice. It was tasty on it’s own and delicious in this mango cherry smoothie recipe.
Tools to Make this Recipe
You’ll need a few kitchen tools to prepare this cherry smoothie with mango. Here’s what I recommend having on hand before getting started:
- High-Powered Blender – using a high speed blender will help you achieve that smooth consistency in your smoothie. My favorite blender is the Blendtec Blender. We’ve had it for over 10 years and it still works great!
- Measuring Cups – to measure the frozen fruit, juice, and yogurt.
- Measuring Spoons – to measure the chia seeds.

Recipe Tips
- I recommend using frozen, pitted cherries and frozen mango chunks. Frozen fruit keeps the smoothie nice and cold, makes it thicker than fresh fruit, and you don’t have to worry about removing the cherry pits yourself.
- We prefer to use plain Greek yogurt so the smoothie isn’t overly sweet. Greek yogurt adds protein to the smoothie, too.
- I use frozen dark sweet cherries, but you could use tart cherries if you prefer, just know that the flavor will be slightly more tart.
This easy recipe is flexible – adapt it according to your preferences!
If you like extra protein in your smoothies try adding a scoop of vanilla protein powder in addition to the collagen powder when making this mango cherry smoothie recipe.
If you prefer a thicker smoothie I recommend adding in a little ice and/or less juice. And for a thinner smoothie, use a more juice or add water as needed.
Experiment with different flavors. You can try using plain cherry juice or mango juice instead of the Cran•Cherry® Juice.
For less sugar, substitute water or unsweetened almond milk in place of the juice.

Can I make smoothies in advance?
Yes! I’ll walk you through the process of making freezer smoothies below:
How to Prep Make Ahead Smoothies
- Label the bag with contents and instructions (i.e. Smoothie with cherries and mango – add juice or water, then blend). This way you know what the bag contains and how you need to prep it. Tip: use a permanent marker!
- Then, place all of the solid ingredients in a freezer safe plastic zip top bag. This would include ingredients like the fruits and vegetables, chia seeds, etc. .
- Squeeze as much air out of the bag as you are able to do and zip. Then, stash all the bags in your freezer.
When you’re ready to prepare a smoothie, just dump all of the contents of the bag into your blender along with any additional ingredients, such as the liquids, and blend.
