DIY Mini Rosemary Wreaths
Make these Mini Rosemary Wreaths to use as place settings for your upcoming holiday dinner parties. They’re the perfect finishing touch to any tablescape and are so easy to assemble!
Creating These Fresh Rosemary Mini Wreaths
These mini rosemary wreaths are a fun (and easy!) DIY project that’s perfect for the holidays.
For this simple holiday craft project, pieces of fresh rosemary are wrapped with floral wire and gently bent to create adorable mini wreaths. A bow is then affixed to each wreath for that extra dose of holiday flair.
You can use the small rosemary wreaths to decorate your home, customize Christmas gifts, or use them as DIY Thanksgiving or Christmas place cards (that’s what I do!).
The fresh rosemary not only looks festive, but it smells incredible too! Best of all, you can detach the bows before throwing away the mini wreaths and save them for another craft project.
Supplies You’ll Need
To create the DIY mini wreaths, you’ll need the following supplies:
- 22 gauge floral wire
- Wire cutters
- 6 to 12 fresh rosemary sprigs (approx. 7 inches long)
- 1 spool of ribbon, approximately 3 yards (any color)
- Scissors
The above is simply a quick summary of this recipe. Check out the full recipe in the free printable recipe card at the bottom of this post for all the detailed instructions.
How to Make DIY Rosemary Wreaths
There are two parts to this easy holiday craft: first you’ll shape the wreaths, then you’ll assemble and attach the bows.
Make the wreaths:
- Lay the 7-inch long pieces of fresh rosemary on your work surface. Measure out a length of floral wire that extends the length of the rosemary by one inch total at the top and bottom (that’s 1/2 inch extra at the top and 1/2 inch extra at the bottom).
- Leaving a ½-inch length of wire extending above the top of your rosemary sprig, begin wrapping the wire around the rosemary. Leave a ½-inch length of wire at the lower end of the sprig.
- Gently coax the wired rosemary into a circle and overlap the ends slightly. Twist the bare wire ends around the opposite ends of the rosemary so that it forms a circle.
- Manipulate the wired rosemary into a circle and set aside while you make the bows.
Make the bows:
- Cut six 3-inch pieces of floral wire. Taking your ribbon, tie a knot around one piece of wire.
- Bend the wire into a ‘U’ shape.
- Tie the bow.
- Trim the ends of the bow into a ‘V’ shape, then shape your bow.
- Using the extending bow wires, wrap the ends around the rosemary wreath.

Tips for Making the Mini Wreaths
- The bows are wired and independent from the wreath. Feel free to remove them to save for future use.
- Choose newer-growth rosemary sprigs, if possible. Older, woody stems tend to snap and break when shaping into a circle.
- Choose any ribbon color and type you like! My ribbon was purchased from Michael’s Arts and Crafts. Hobby Lobby and Amazon also have lots of excellent ribbon choices.
Rosemary Wreath FAQs
Got questions about how to make this recipe? Here are the answers to a few commonly asked questions. Feel free to leave any other questions in the comments on this post and I’ll respond with answers.
I tested this DIY project with and without the floral wire, and I found that it makes a big difference in the shape and sturdiness of the wreaths.
So although you can technically shape the mini rosemary wreaths without using floral wire, know that they won’t hold their shape as well and might fall apart on you. (Not ideal if you’re using these as DIY Thanksgiving or Christmas place cards!)
Do I have to attach the bow using floral wire? Can I just tie it on?
Of course! You can opt to simply tie the ribbon directly onto the wreath. However, I like to be able to repurpose the bows and not waste the ribbon.
Can I use a different type of fresh herb?
I imagine you could use another hearty herb with a thick stem, such as thyme, lavender, or sage.
However, I only tested this DIY project using fresh rosemary since it looks the most like evergreen branches to me.
How long will the rosemary wreaths stay fresh?
The fresh rosemary will dry out within a few days, but you can use the wreaths throughout the holiday season!
As long as the wreaths are kept in a cool, dry place, they won’t develop mold. The worst that’s likely to happen is that the rosemary will shed over time as it dries out and gets jostled.
