Easy Super Bowl Recipes
The Super Bowl is just around the corner! Do you have plans for the biggest game of the year?
Maybe you are an avid football fan and you’ll be cheering on your favorite tip while you dig in to some tasty super bowl snacks. Or maybe you’re more like me and think the best part are the party appetizers and a fun half-time show.
Whether you’re watching the game with a crowd or settling in alone with the TV remote, delicious munchies are practically a Super Bowl requirement.
For me, going to a Super Bowl party is all about the food – and there are plenty of good Super Bowl recipes to be enjoyed – and hanging out with some friends. Whether you are watching the big game this weekend or not, the Super Bowl is a really good excuse to indulge in some delicious snacking.
Super Bowl Party Tips
Menu Planning
Every great super bowl party has great food, so I like to start menu planning about 7-10 days before Super Bowl Sunday. Start with sorting out the recipes for your “must haves,” and your family’s traditional dishes.
After you’ve decided on the dishes you know you will have, start thinking about what’s missing. Do you need more sides? Appetizers? Drinks? Desserts? An easy dip recipe? Filling in the gaps is a great opportunity to introduce a few new dishes alongside everyone’s favorite foods.
Need ideas? Check out the list below of best super bowl food ideas ! Test any new Super Bowl recipes in advance to avoid blunders on the big day.
Delegate
Minimum 3- 5 days prior to your Super Bowl party, let guests know if you’d like them to bring anything to contribute, whether that is drinks or an appetizer recipe. Give them plenty of time to prepare for their dish and/or find a new recipe to share.
Make Ahead
The best recipes are the ones that you can make ahead! One great tip to make the prep even easier on the day of the game is to make some of the recipes the day before, or in the morning the day of if your schedule allows.
Many dips and other Super Bowl foods and appetizers are easy to prepare ahead of time and store in your refrigerator.
In the half hour before guests are scheduled to arrive, you can plan to heat up anything that should be served warm. The slow cooker or crock pot is a great way to keep game day appetizers warm with minimal effort.
If you have any yummy food that is fine sitting out at room temperature, go ahead and pull those things out early, too. Then, As guests start arriving, pull the cold recipes from the fridge.
This will free up time giving you the opportunity to enjoy watching the Super Bowl and spending time with friends and family.
Prep Ahead
Even if the entire Super Bowl recipe can’t be made ahead of time, there are often elements of it that can be made ahead giving you a little bit of leeway when it comes to same day planning.
Prep work is essential for simpler party planning and hosting. In the kale chips recipe, for example, you can prep the kale by tearing the leaves, washing, and drying it a day or two before.
Give Guests Serving Options
I think guest-assembles, DIY, or serve your self style meals and snacks are perfect for when having a crowd over to watch the game.
This works especially well for recipes along the lines of nachos, tacos, or tostadas. It takes work away from the host because you don’t have to assemble every aspect of every menu item.
People can eat when they’re ready, and make it how they want it, all while allowing the host or hostess to sit down and enjoy the party.
Providing topping options is a fun way for guest to take their own plate to the next level.
Popular options are:
- Shredded Cheese
- Salsas
- Dipping Sauces (Barbecue Sauce, Fry Sauce, Ketchup, Wing Sauce, Blue Cheese Dressing, Ranch Dressing)
- Cilantro
- Lettuce
- Diced Tomatoes
- Sour Cream
- Olives
- Jalapeños
- Green Onions
Clean as You Go
The mess is so much less overwhelming if you wash dishes and/or run the dishwasher throughout the day. If you have extra hands, it is helpful if one or two people are assigned what I call “damage control duty.”
If you opt for disposable plates, bowls, cups, and utensils, look for options that can be recycled rather than thrown in the trash.
