Creating This Peach Syrup Recipe
I cheer when it’s finally peach season again. I stalk the farm stands starting mid-July on the off chance there are early peaches available for me to buy.
It feels like winning the lottery when I find those early peaches. And then in a few weeks we are overloaded with peaches at every corner, and I am beyond happy.
I started making peach syrup awhile back as a way to use up any extra ripe peaches I had on hand — I don’t want a single one to go to waste! It is the perfect way to enjoy this summer fruit!
This peach syrup is nice and sweet with a touch of cinnamon, vanilla, and a squeeze of fresh lemon juice to brighten it up.

Tips for Making the Best Peach Syrup
You can puree the peaches or keep it a little chunky. Totally up to you on that one. We like ours to have some bigger pieces of peaches to bit into. Think of it like a very thin homemade jam.
I like to add both vanilla and almond extract to this peach syrup, but you can omit the almond extract if desired. It just adds an extra layer of flavor and a hint of nuttiness.
My family prefers eating this peach syrup warm, but you can also enjoy it cold. When reheating the syrup, I recommend doing so in a saucepan and not reheating the entire jar. That way you’re not reheating all the syrup over and over again.
Peach Syrup FAQs
Got questions about how to make this fresh peach syrup? Here are the answers to a few commonly asked questions. Feel free to leave any other questions in the comments on this post and I’ll respond with answers.
What are the best peaches to use?
Ripe fresh peaches are best. You can choose regular peaches or white peaches. We prefer yellow peaches due to the color and flavor but both work.
Can I use frozen peaches?
We always make this homemade peach syrup recipe during the summer months. Fresh peaches are naturally much sweeter and will give you the best flavor.
However, the recipe will still work using frozen peaches; you just won’t have as much peach flavor as you would when using fresh fruit.
How long does this peach syrup last?
This homemade peach syrup will last for 3 – 5 days when stored in the refrigerator in an airtight container, such as a mason jar.
Can you freeze it?
Yes, you can freeze this homemade peach syrup. The best way to store it in the freezer is:
First, cool the syrup to room temperature. Then, transfer to a freezer-safe storage container (divide the recipe into smaller portions if desired).
