Spicy Roasted Chickpeas
I have been seeing variations of this oven roasted spicy chickpeas around for a while. It took me until just a few months ago to actually try it for myself. Honestly, I didn’t have very high hopes, but I was pleasantly surprised by this snack.
I loved the crunch of the oven roasted chickpeas, the spicy flavor, and of course the fact that they were a healthy snack. Something that I didn’t feel disturbed appetites before dinner or filled stomachs with empty calories. I never mind fueling the body with extra servings of things that are good for them.
I also loved that these spicy chickpeas were also Madeline approved, which was possibly the most pleasant surprise of all.

- On top of grain bowls
Tips for Making Spicy Chickpeas
If you like things really spicy, add up to 1/2 teaspoon of chipotle powder to these roasted chickpeas. You could also add a pinch of cayenne if you’re brave.
Be sure to stir the oven roasted chickpeas once or twice while they’re baking, otherwise they may burn on one side.
Also note that these spicy chickpeas crisp up as they cool. So don’t panic if they seem too soft when you first take them out of the oven.

Hi, We have them on a pizza. after draining, rinsing and drying, add to fry pan with a tablespoon of oil. 1 can covers a medium pizza. This is so good I have even volunteered this to local pizza restaurants. haven’t seen them on the menu. But they are so good, especially if they burst during baking. Flavorful!
Sara says
Hello! Do you have to peel/skin the chickpeas? Ty
Katie says
No, I did not peel them.
